Neighborhood is a specialty coffee shop and market in Los Angeles that aspires to be a bit of a throwback - a local gathering place, a watering hole, a place of discovery and nourishment where the hustle of the city slows down. It features the best coffee served in a warm, welcoming, familial environment. It also features a wide array of market and pantry items plus ice cream and small bites. Inside the shop is a large communal table as well as a high bar in the windows facing the street; it is our hope that people will engage with neighbors and friends instead of surfing their laptops. Additionally, it is our plan to regularly feature local makers, artists, artisans, wellness experts, and thought leaders from the neighborhood who will be invited to come to the shop and host special events, giveaways, lectures, and get togethers. We might welcome a florist one week and a clean beauty company the next. It might be a new pastry chef in town, or an herbal supplement that goes great in our teas. The design influences of the shop include Danish hygge and Japanese Wabi Sabi, and the plaster walls were inspired by John Pawson’s salmon pink home in Mallorca.
